A Local Journeys bid to get kids involved and engaged with the great play and wildlife resource on their doorsteps – the fields, ponds and copses that surround our village. Understandably parents have concerns about their children being exposed to dangers but we’ve been hearing first hand from teachers and adults that many children have a real anxiety about ‘failing’, taking risks, getting dirty; all things that can help you learn how to become a fully functioning adult. Theatre Orchard is North Somerset based project which is “shaping the arts landscape in North Somerset. ‘Bloom’

Another North Somerset Arts week show at home, this one in 2005, celebrating the colourful exuberance of growing things – mostly flowers in bloom but also the creatures that visit or eat them. The title allowed the inclusion of fruits that display that wonderful velvety covering also known as bloom – there are lots more in this flickr albumbloom-flier

 

‘Bridge’

“LAND2 is a national network of artist / lecturers and research students with an interest in landscape / place-oriented art practice”. In 2003 I was a visiting lecturer in photography at the University of the West of England and was invited to become a member of LAND2, which was based at UWE. I took part in the Bridges postcard project in 2003 and produced this montage image of a landmark bridge in my home territory – the Avonmouth Bridge that carries the M5 across the Avon.
